What a Day!

Birthday memories!



Well, the day is almost over and I'm back at my computer, yet again!

What a day we've had!
We knew this morning when we got up that the party was not going to be as planed, and we were so right!
It just never stopped snowing!
The roads were a mess and not exactly fun to drive on!
But surprisingly, more than half of the people who had accepted the party invitation still had the courage to come, snow or not! We were so very happy to see them because, one way or the other, the party was going to happen even if it would have been just our immediate family!
But they came and we had fun, good food and fellowship!
We were so glad that some of our relatives came from so far away to celebrate with us today and thank you also to my cousin, who was gracious enough to accept a very last minute request to do a short devotional for the occasion.
It was much appreciated, indeed!
True to form, when it came to the "Open Mike" time, this bunch has very little to say.
Not true to form was the fact that I lost in front of all the guests! Yup! I did!
Can't honestly remember that this has ever happened to me before but, oh well, so now people know that sometimes, my emotions run away with me too!
And then there was the DVD problem! I felt so sorry for my sister and brother-in-law. After the many days and hours they put into making this DVD, it ended up not being compatible with the church's video equipment!
We could not watch it!
Of course, now my sister says that we will all have to wait until Christmas Day, Dad's actual birthday, to watch it. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment!
But on second thought, maybe that is just perfect that way, it will make it much more special!
It just seems that someone certainly had other plans in store for us today!
Just like one of the guests asked about what the weather might have been like on the day that Dad was born and we figured that since in was on Christmas Day in Siberia ..... chances are that it was probably just as white then as it was today, don't you think? I think that God was just celebrating with us and decided to put some icing on the cake! Don't you like that?
Well, now that all is said and done, we are so grateful for having had this opportunity to celebrate the many good years my Dad has had and we hope for many more.
I think that at the end of the evening, my Dad although being tired, was happy as well!
